The North Castle Police Department received a complaint from a North Overlook Road resident on Monday, Sept. 17, who said that a nearby neighbor had roosters that continue to make noise each morning and evening from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m., waking him up in the morning and keeping him up at night. Officers attempted to reach out the roosters’ owner, but were unable to initially.
The following day, police received a second complaint from the same neighbor at approximately 5:45 a.m., and officers again responded to the home. Police said that the officers were able to speak with the homeowner on the second shot, and advised him of the North Castle Town Ordinance regarding noise.
According to police the homeowner said he would be getting rid of the roosters as soon as possible. They then spoke to the complainant and advised him of the end result. No complaints have been filed since.
Just days earlier in North Castle, a Byram Lake Road homeowner reported to police on Friday, Sept. 14 that someone may have shot an owl on her property, and the animal was still alive.
Officers responded to the home to investigate, and found that the owl was not shot, but needed assistance due to a head injury. The officers were able to secure the owl in a container until nature rescue service employees arrived for the rescue.
